We spent seven weeks on our trip to Switzerland, leaving on 28th August and returning on 16th October.
In the course of our journey we:
- Stayed in five different countries (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland)
- Stayed in 24 locations, including 5 campsites, 11 motorhome park ups with services and 10 park ups without services.
- Travelled on 14 mountain lifts and gondolas
- Enjoyed 15 bike rides, 17 walks/hikes and 5 via ferrata (Charmey, Moleson, Tour d’Ai, Mittaghorn, Allmenalp)
- Had 3 laundry days
But the most important question to answer – how much did we spend in this notoriously expensive location:
- Our total spend was £3137.80, just under £450 a week.
- We spent an average of £17.72 a night on campsites, aires and other stopovers
- We didn’t go out to eat much, spending £144.41 on our six lunches and one dinner
- But we did eat well in the motorhome, spending £635.10 on groceries, just over £90 a week (this includes the stocking up we did before we left), roughly what we would spend at home.
- We spent almost as much feeding Bertie with fuel. We didn’t count the kms travelled, but we spent £632.25
